![]() ![]() I have not looked at their 3 Months & 6 Months Membership Fees, but if they require the full payment up front, then the 6 Months Fee option might be too steep for me. When a person signs up for 3 Months, do they have to pay the entire fee(whatever amount that is for the 3 Months Membership) up front, or can the membership fee be split up into 3 equal payments over those 3 Months? If they require full payment upon signing up for 3 Months, can I just select the 3 Titles I want to have mailed to me right away(assuming they are not making the Member buy a Specific Title released each Month), then with the 1 Free Record, just make the payment for a 3 Months Membership and have all 4 Records mailed to me together?Īlso, if interested in a Title, which will not be released until July, if I was to sign up in March, can I delay one of my selected Records(3 I pay for plus the 1 Free Selection) to include that Title being released in July even though it would then be past my 3 Months Period, and I decide to not renew my Membership after May? I am just asking, as was considering signing up with VMP for 3 Months(to buy 3 Records and also select 1 Free Title with their offer), but I do not want to be forced to buy a Title, which they determine to send to me(that I assume would be their New Release each Month from March-May), but do see at least 3 Past Titles in their current stock, and a Future Title of interest. “No way Butt-Head, I am not paying for that Kenny G Record-It Sucks”.Īlso, for anyone else here, who also might be able to answer my questions about VMP Membership:ĭoes VMP force their own Title that they select each Month to their Members to purchase, or do Members have an option to select any of the approximate 120 Titles I saw on their website, and just inform VMP a list of the 3 Records already in their stock, which I would like to buy as a 3 Months Member. “Hey Beavis, I bought the Free Records, so you need to pay for other Records they send us”. So you had to accept the specific Record, which was sent every month, and did not have the option to select a Title you wanted? Not paying for your future records sounds like something that would happen in an episode of Beavis & Butt-Head. I think it would be fascinating to see their financials and do a case study on the business. But it is more of a theoretical price increase, as they have to give "free" stuff to get people to sign up. Lots of promotions to get subscribers so they can use the subscriber numbers to please shareholders or get more funding or whatever, then they also need money so they raise the subscription price. ![]() They have been around for quite a while, yet still operate completely like a start up. But I think last years promotion with a credit offer is better, as you can spend the credit on what you want and not just on their unsold inventory.Īs a business owner and someone who has studied business rather extensively, I do find it interesting. I knew that when I signed up, so I can't complain. But VMP's whole model is that we throw you something great here and there and then hope you also take all the filler that comes with it. But of the 3 I lean towards Wu because I don't own a copy since the ones on market typically have really bad reviews on Discogs.I certainly don't think free records are a bad thing in a vacuum, but I also think most people would rather pay a cheaper subscription fee and choose the records they want. ![]() My OG Physic sounds great but that's a top 10 electronic album for me so I'm tempted. Which means that the release of Check Your Head $40 has me thinking of 3 album splurging.Ī) Those of you that have Visions- is it a quality pressing?ī) How is the 36 Chambers pressing, the Darkside pressing and / or the Bright Eyes pressings? I have a copy of Wide Awake that is pretty meh. And despite mad Beasties love I only have their first 2 albums (one was a gift, the other purchased on sale for $15) due to to the nearly $40 price tags. ![]() So I've been eying that for a long minute. That said, Grimes' Visions is a top 10 album of all-time for me and the OG pressing is dogshit. The insane pricing on store exclusives make me wanna vomit and I've spent $40 on a record maybe 5x over the years. The lone exception was a 3 album binge last winter when they released Mars Volta and QotSA. I haven't regularly used VMP since roughly 2018 when they annexed the forum, jacked up their prices and lost quality control. ![]()
